Naregatsi Art Institute hosted the annual event "Commemoration through the Spirit of the Arts" dedicated to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Father Ashot Safaryan, pastor of Nor Nork St. Mariam Astvatsatsin Church of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, made an opening speech.
Musical performances on the Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide were presented by pianist Levon Karapetian, Naregatsi Orchestra (Artistic Director Artemn Khachatur), Paros Chamber Choir (Artistic Director Raffi Mikaelian, Conductor Ruben Karaseferian), and the musicians of the Nova Folk Instruments Ensemble (Artistic Director Hovik Sahakyan).
Thousands of Armenians were killed during the 44-day war, աmong them was Mher Potoyan, the kamancha player of the Naregatsi Օrchestra. At the event, Naregatsi Orchestra immortalized the vivid memory of Mher Potoyan with a new composition, "Dedication".
Daniel Yerazhisht delivered a speech during the event, emphasizing the importance of such events.
At the end of the event Naregatsi Art Institute founder Nareg Hartounian addressed his speech to the audience.
-We have to take revenge living as an Armenian. We must keep our faith and boldness of the spirit, so that the Armenian people forever avoid such a catastrophe, - mentioned Nareg Hartounian.
The event commemorating the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide ended with the traditional lighting of candles.
Since 2003, every year on April 24th, Naregatsi Art Institute faithfully holds commemorative events with the active participation of the artists calling on the world to honor the victims of the Genocide and to prevent the recurrence of other genocides through its recognition.
