Naregatsi Art Institute hosted the annual event called "Commemoration through the Spirit of the Arts" dedicated to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Since 2003, every year on April 24, Naregatsi Art Institute faithfully holds commemorative events with the active participation of their artist friends calling on the world to honor the victims of the Genocide and to prevent the recurrence of other genocides through its recognition.
Father Zgon Abrahamyan, the pastor of Erebouni community of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, opened the event with the Lord ’s Prayer.
The event featured Armine Khachatryan (soprano), Elen Kirakosyan (piano), Paros Chamber Choir (Artistic Director Raffi Mikaelian, Conductor Ruben Karaseferian), Naregatsi Choir (Artistic Director & Conductor Maria Galstyan) and Naregatsi Folk Instruments Orchestra (Artistic Director. composer, musician Artem Khachatur) with Smbat Khalatyan (vocal).
The works by artist Merouzhan Khachatryan dedicated to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide were showcased in the exhibition hall. The exhibition will be open until April 28.
The Naregatsi Folk Instruments Orchestra had the premiere performance of the song - "It's April again..." (Music by Artem Khachatur, Lyrics by S. Khalatyan) dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Tigran Barkhanajyan, artist, author of the icon “Holy Martyrs”, created on the occasion of the canonization of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, spoke about the symbol of the icon, the history of its creation and the preparatory work.
During the evening, violinist, conductor, musicologist Daniel Yerazhisht presented his comments on the works: "April 24" (lyrics by Eduardas Miezelaitis), "The Seeds of Revenge” (lyrics by Rouben Sevak), "The Lonesome Flute and the Glorious Trumpet” (lyrics by Siamanto).
- It is very important for us, that not only Armenians, but also foreigners recognize the fact of the Armenian Genocide and commemorate the innocent victims. It is also important that this historic undeniable crime is reflected in their songs and poems. Such a work is Miezelaitis's poem "April 24", which I have turned into a song, - mentioned in his speech Daniel Yerazhisht.
At the end of the event, Tigran Barkhanajyan, artist, author of the icon “Holy Martyrs”, donated the reprinted copy of the picture to the Center.
