Naregatsi Art Institute hosted a concert evening entitled "Hayots Hovik" featuring the Naregatsi Orchestra (Artistic Director Artem Khachatur) and Njdeh Fold Dance Group (Artistic Director Gagik Ginosyan). It was a fantastic evening and the audience with their seemingly endless applause didn’t want to leave the performers.
The concert evening was also remarkable as along with many Canadian Armenians we had the honor to host Canadian Armenian journalist Vahakn Karakachian, the editor of the Horizon weekly, who has been with the Naregatsi Art Institute since its establishment supporting and the NAI in all important issues.
-Today is a significant day for me, because my friend Vahakn is here, a man who has been with me since the foundation of the Naregatsi Art Institute. When in 2003 I told me about my intentions to set up such a Centre, he immediately said that he would be beside me and would help in all matters he can, a man who has done much for NAI, starting with writing the speech for the first event of the opening of the Centre and up to providing computers for computer class in Shoushi. We have a unique gift-award, a small cross-stone with the symbol of NAI that combines the Lord's blessing and culture. With this gift, we grant Vahakn the title of "Ambassador of Armenian Culture" because you are one of those people who hold the honor of the Armenians in many countries, - concluded the event Nareg Hartounian, founder of the Naregatsi Art Institute.
